Kostroma:

Kostroma, one of the loveliest cities in our itinerary, was founded in 1152 by prince Yuri Dolgoruky. It is often called a jewel among the Golden Ring Cities. Home to the two of Russia's most prominent noble families Godunovs and Romanovs, ancient Kostroma was closely tied to the fierce high-level power rivalries, before Romanovs established their 300-year dynasty in the 17th century. The town's pride is the Monastery of St. Ipaty, founded in 1332 by ancestors of Boris Godunov, and later patronized by the Romanov dynasty.
