Suzdal:
One of the earliest settlements in central Russia, Suzdal has been inhabited since the 9th century. With more than 200 historic monuments and some of the most striking churches in Russia, this quiet town on the Kamenka River has suffered many destructions and rose from the ashes every time. The town's most memorable sights include the orange-red walls of the Yefimiyevsky Monastyr (Monastery of the lament of Christ), founded in 1352, the foam white-walls of the Pokrovsky Monastyr (Intercession Convent) and exquisitely adorned Rizopolozensky Monastyr (Monastery of the Desposition of the Virgin's Robe).
